A closer look at the natural world.
From the Archives: “Instinct Awakened” Pen and Ink - Craig Mills (Circa 1995)
Final snapshot of an orphaned Frogmouth visiting for its last free feed. Something clicked, as it truly knew wild things.
Testament to a fragile second chance at freedom, documented from my time at various wildlife shelters.
Though the original 1995 print run is long gone, the vision behind it remains one of the key foundations of my life.
The Vision
Inspired by decades working in Australia’s fire shaped ecosystems, remote wilderness and conservation zones. Grounded by eons of geological history, indigenous knowledge, conservation ecology and biology. I use my lived experience and understanding of country, to advocate for nature through the visual document. Revealing the interwoven, layered facets of existence. By virtue of love and understanding of our natural world. Comes a hope for it’s future resilience.
One time, one meeting
The idea that every moment is unique, fleeting, and will never happen again in exactly the same way. Each work requires patience, observation and immersion. Searching for the raw conditions where light, textures and details reveal the essence of place. Photos are taken in quiet isolation, capturing a glimpse of Australia’s diversity, as a ephemeral moment in time.
The Art
These fine art prints, crafted for refined interiors, bring calm, authenticity and biophilic connection to urban spaces. Informed by a lifelong practice in illustration, painting, design, woodcraft and sculpture; each image offers a sophisticated counterbalance to modern city life, allowing the time to reflect within.
The Footprint
Conscious Creation: Print on demand model eliminates waste and resource strain.
Archival Preservation: Museum grade materials ensure each piece lasts for generations.
A Daily Invitation: Every print encourages a pause to reconnect with and protect the natural world, that ultimately sustains all.
